Our Story

Originally founded in 1988 as Pro-Tech, and then re-branded in 1997 to Relations Management Group, Inc., RMG is an IT consulting practice that specializes in complex technology negotiations. RMG primarily services clients from over 200 portfolio companies owned by Private Equity to publicly owned SME to large Enterprise corporations across North America, the UK and the European Union driving savings and creating value in every transaction. RMG is headquartered in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

CEO and Founder Phil Downe (pictured left) holds a B.Sc., Computer Science from Acadia University and Certificates in Dispute Resolution and Applied Negotiations from the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor. Phil also sits on the editorial advisory board of, and is a regular contributor to Purchasingb2b magazine.

Ian joins RMG after a tenure at Celestica International ($5.8B 2020 revenue, TSX) and brings with him expertise in global strategic sourcing, vendor management, corporate management, and a wide variety of impressive cost savings and value creation in the IT negotiation space. In his past role as Global Manager of IT Commodity Management, Ian led the charge to drive aggressive savings across Software, Hardware, Telecom and IT Outsourcing categories, averaging a 31% take down rate (TDR) across a portfolio of over 300 technology vendors.
